Have a greedy and colored weekend!
Apparently not much of interest, lemon peel is a very useful ingredient and garnish in italian cuisine. This is the time of the year in which with Ale’s dad we pick some lemons from our garden to make the famous “Limoncello di Mario”. Lemons are washed and naturally dried out, then they are peeled being careful to leave the white pith intact. The yellow peel is then put into a jar containing pure alcohol where it soaks for ten days. The jar must be agitated now and then so that you can see the yellow peel become white and the alcohol become yellow.
Ingredients: 8 lemons - 1 liter of alcohol - 450 grams of sugar - 1 glass of mineral still water
After ten days the mix of peels and alcohol is boiled while the water and the sugar are added stirring slowly.
Once the boiling process has ended, the mix is filtered with a funnel into a glass bottle. Let it to get cold naturally, then put it into the fridge. - Around With Me
